Research Work Due to the fact that currently no research exists in Botswana on heart disease, one of the primary reasons for formalising the Foundation was to ensure reliable research was initiated and maintained. It is only through statistical data can people and government begin to acknowledge that this disease is as serious a disease in Botswana, as it is in the rest of the world. The Foundation is currently in the process of developing the datagathering form; sending it for review to a major pharmaceutical company to ensure its relevance and that it is up to international standards of research; finally because the study is on humans, the research proposed needs to be approved by the Ethics Committee at the Ministry of Health. As you can see it is a process but one we hope will be completed by the end of April 2008, so that we can start our research throughout Botswana. We are calling on pharmacies, clinics, hospitals, doctors and even companies having wellness days to assist us in the gathering of information.
